About Me
I've lived in Narooma since 1997 having previously lived in Canberra. I've had an interesting past and have done everything from selling Vacuum Cleaners door to door, Real Estate, and Cars to managing the Ministerial Computer Network (the days of Kim Beazley and Senator Robert Ray) at the Department of Defence. Since moving to Narooma I've owned and operated 'Craigs' Mobile Computer Repairs' which keeps me quite busy, although to be honest, I hate computers as I've been working with them for 20 years and am tired of them. I'm also a programmer and am almost fluent in 5 languages.
I also own Narooma Online which has been around since 1998 and is currently the number one Tourism information site for the Narooma region.
I'm about to turn 45 (June 2008) which doesn't excite me very much, in fact I'm quite suprised that I have lived this long as I thought I would be gone long ago. I nearly was gone back in November 2007 after suffering a heart attack which had been caused by stress and high blood pressure. We will wait and see how long I last, perhaps I might see 50!
My partner, Sarah, is the love of my life and I enjoy every minute we spend together. I have three children, Jayne (who provided me with a grandson in 2007), Nadia, and William. Having grandchildren is the greatest form of revenge for a parent! It means that when they come to stay and he starts crying I can simply hand him back to his mum and say "Here, deal with this will you!". Jayne has proven to be an excellent mother and I'm very proud of her. Of course I love all my children (although sometimes life might have been a bit smoother without them) as any parent will tell you, they bring tears of joy and sadness your entire life.
In 2002 I rediscovered my passion for Photography and have been taking photographs ever since. Back in my high school days in the UK (I'm not english, I just lived there for a while with my parents) I took heaps of photographs on Black and White film and developed them myself. While I do have all the gear to build a Darkroom I have not done so because Digital is so much better. The digital age means that I can take photographs and not be concerned about the expense of developing and printing. If I don't like something I can simply delete it and get on with my life.
People are my favorite subjects because we are all differant and can each be shown in so many differant ways. Wedding Photography almost satisfies my need for people pictures, Modeling Portfolio's are another great way to satisfy my urge for people pictures. I can't help but admire beautiful things and beautiful people - I get so much pleasure from taking pictures of people.
Right now my Computer Repair business is going flat out which leaves me little time for the things I enjoy, but no matter how busy I am I will always take time out to pick up the camera and start shooting.
